Bad standing is a term used to illustrate the status of a biker or club within our organized biking community.
There are only two kinds of standings and they are Good Standing or Bad Standing. We will concern ourselves only with Bad Standing, as Good Standing has no grey areas.
As simple as it looks, 'bad standing' is a vague and sometimes misleading term and is open to individual misinterpretation. We need to look deeper at how we generally interpret this commonly used word in the biking community.

For the sake of clarity, let's handle Bad Standing in these parts of our community:

Bad standing with a club
This happens when a club publicly declares a member to be in bad standing  with them. The offence committed could be anything. For example, if a club member has committed some kind of betrayal, he is 'kicked out' of the club in bad standing. Only the club that imposed the bad standing status can lift or change this status. Such a member in bad standing:
May not wear the club colors.
May not participate in club activities.
May not ride with the club.

Is not necessarily in bad standing with other clubs, councils/federations, or the biking community. See Note below.
Bad standing with a council or federation
This happens when a council or federation declares a club to be in bad standing with them. Such a club in bad standing :
May not attend council/federation meetings
Is banned from all council/federation biking activities
May not present events in the area controlled by the council/federation
Bad standing with the biking community
This is the most serious and terrible place to be in bad standing. Someone who is in bad standing  with the biking community is automatically also in bad standing  with the councils/federations and all their clubs. This bad standing  is for life and can't be changed. The punishment is always a banning from the biking community. There are two unwritten laws that automatically bring bad standing status on a member of our biking community. They are:
Being found guilty in a court of law of motorbike theft.
Being caught in the act whilst stealing anything from a Brother/Sister biker.
Note:
A member in bad standing  with a club is not necessarily in bad standing  with other clubs, councils/federations, or the biking community. In the case of a member in bad standing  with one club interacting with other clubs in the community, each case should be handled according to it's own situation and merit. The only certain guideline we can offer here is that the presidents thus involved should resolve the grey areas. Remember to stay out of other club's internal business.
